Where it all began...
In 2016 I moved to Byron Bay on a whim, and have been here ever since where a heightened sense of creativity grew and the purpose to create thoughtful and desirable pieces for the fashion lovers was developed. Designing clothes was always a passion of mine, from what began as a favourite subject throughout my secondary schooling steered me to completing an Advance Diploma in Fashion Design and Technology at Kangin Institute in Melbourne. After going on to intern for a fashion company for several weeks I quickly decided the corporate fashion world was not for me and a sea change was what I desired the most.
My entrepreneurial instincts began to surface along with a passion for creativity that would soon transition into a slow and organic start- up business from my little beach side abode on The Great Ocean Road where I began sewing one off pieces with fabric I brought on my first visit to Bali. After completing a little business course, I again set off to Bali, this time to look for makers to bring my little business to life. I started selling my first range at markets on the Great Ocean Road over the summer. With the end of the market season in sight, I knew I had to follow the sunshine which lead me to Byron Bay, where the markets continue weekly all year round and the lifestyle is abundant with like-minded creative entrepreneurs, living out their dreams.
Carlabella is designed in Australia’s most easterly point, Byron Bay and the production process is outsourced to a small community of personally chosen makers in Bali, Indonesia. We work closely with our suppliers taking great care to make it our priority to develop mutually beneficial business relationships and ongoing friendships ensuring positive attitudes, clean and safe working conditions and fair treatment.
You can visit our Market Stall on most weekends around Byron Bay and the Gold Coast. For more information check out our Market Page.
